Kirkharle Courtyard
The Running Fox
The Running Fox’s newest location is located in Kirkharle Courtyard, a historic and picturesque setting in Northumberland. As of May 2024, we can be found at this beautiful rural destination, known for its connection to the famous landscape architect Capability Brown.
We offer both sit-down service and takeaway options. For those looking for quick options, The Running Fox bakery items are available for takeaway from the ‘Grab n Go’ counter at Browns Lakeside Larder, also located in Kirkharle Courtyard. Dogs are welcome, however, visitors are advised to book in advance as they are only allowed in designated seating areas.
Nestled in the historic Kirkharle Courtyard, our new location marries rustic charm with the intimate dining atmosphere our patrons have come to love, serving up our signature quality fare amidst picturesque, artisanal surroundings.

The Running Fox – Northumberland
In 2011 a cunning plan was hatched to open an Artisan Bakery in Felton. In the gorgeous Northumberland village of Felton, close to the banks of the River Coquet lies our first Cafe.
In 2017 our 2nd Coffee shop opened in Longframlington and the bakery was re-located to this site. Smaller than Felton with a lovely garden and 100% dog friendly.
In 2019 our 3rd site opened in Shilbottle offering another pretty village venue close to Alnwick and on the way to Alnmouth & Warkworth. 45 seats with plenty of parking and seeing the launch of our first Homeware shop called Kit.
In 2021 our 4th Foxy Coffee Shop opened in the beautiful coastal village of Longhoughton. With 45 seats, this location also houses our largest shop offering an extensive range of gifts and homewares.
As of May 2024, our newest location opened in the historic Kirkharle Courtyard, birthplace of Capability Brown. With its rustic charm and artisanal surroundings, it’s a perfect addition to The Running Fox family.
